Question for Dentists about Shadowing During COVID-19

Hi everyone!

I'm currently working on my application for dental schools and I still need more shadowing hours to reach the minimum required hours AND a letter from a dentist. As dental offices are opening up I'm planning on calling several dentists around me to see if I can shadow them.

But I wanted to ask everyone, especially dentists, this question. Would dentists be okay with someone shadowing them right now? I have taken the pandemic quite seriously starting January and self-isolated myself at home since then so I know I do not have the virus. However, dentists don't know that and I'm sure they want to reduce the number of people in their offices for now.

Could any dentists tell me what they would think if someone were to ask them for shadowing opportunity now?

As I stated before, I have everything ready for my application (/will be ready by the time I apply) but a letter from a dentist. Shadowing hours, I'm worried but not too worried since some schools will take the impact of the pandemic into consideration. However, a dentist letter still remains required. I really don't want to postpone my application to next year just because of the letter but I also know that it's my fault for leaving to do them at the last minute :/

***Also, I have shadowed two dentists and have emailed them for possibly writing me a letter but I have not heard back for over two weeks.
