Single dad here, I have my kiddos 65% custody. My 10yo daughter recently had 6 cavities. She is autistic and non verbal. We brush nightly with fluoride toothpaste, but I've just discovered that when they are with my ex, the toothpaste they use is fluoride free. It's just some random cheap target brand toothpaste that is labeled as fluoride free.
So, my question is, just how important is fluoride?? I'm guessing that brushing without fluoride 4 nights a week is pretty bad?
My ex is convinced that it's harmful to the kids, but apparently having to put my daughter under general anesthesia to deal with her cavities is ok. My daughter also eats tons of otter pops when she with my ex, so I guess high fructose corn syrup and artificial food coloring is ok to eat, but fluoride witch is a natural occurring mineral isnt......
