I had a jaw that won't close completely due to what my Maxillofacial surgeon said was some fluid swelling pushing my jaw down.
He told me that this was basically a taking drugs thing meaning Ibprofen and a regimen of Flexeril, which I was already taking. He also mentioned that he'd like to do artheroscopic surgery on my jaw to do a flush.
I have been trying to weigh whether or not I want to do this. He didn't seem to indicate that it would be successful in restoring the full function of my jaw and I read that there are some possible serious risks involved in doing the surgery. He just said he wanted to do it and seemed to indicate that the mean treatment is the Ibprofen and time for the swelling to go down.
I was wanting some input from other doctors here because I can't afford any more doctors visits as I've already spent a lot of money and have just enough for surgery. (among other things) How likely is it that I need this surgery? Should I expect to have full function of my jaw soon after the procedure?
I appreciate the advice!
