21F, history of dental problems, getting 5 teeth extracted on 5/20.
I had an emergency dental appointment last week where I was told I needed 5 teeth extracted, 3 of which have abscesses, the other 2 have cavities too big to be filled or fixed with a root canal. I’m getting tooth 2, 4, 15, 19, and 30 removed, and getting a biopsy on a suspected cyst under tooth 30. I was on a 10 day round of amoxicillin (875mg twice a day) to treat the abscesses. I had my oral surgery consultation a few days ago where they took x-rays and said I didn’t need another round of antibiotics before the procedure but that they’re going to put me on a round of antibiotics after the surgery. All of this is reassuring, but I’m so scared of the infections spreading after the tooth is removed. I have a horrible fear of anything spreading to my brain and this situation is emphasizing it. I’ve also never had any oral surgery before and I’m worried about other potential complications that could arise from removing 5 teeth at once. My anxiety is so high and I just want some advice/reassurance. Anything is appreciated. Thanks.
