EDIT: I cannot get an ortho consultation right now since non emergency appointments are cancelled in my state. I know this doesn’t replace a professional opinion but a general idea of what this is/what to do until lockdown is over would be awesome.
I think I might have an overbite and that’s why my chin is receded. It’s the only thing I hate about my appearance. I don’t feel confident in my side profile or when I smile. The only way it’s not noticeable is if I bring my head forward.
Aside from cosmetics I’m afraid this’ll be a functionality issue too. I have no problem with speaking, breathing or eating, but I have mild TMD. Sometimes my jaw feels sore and it clicks and cracks when I open it all the way. I’ve heard of TMD worsening over years of not being treated and I don’t want that to happen.
I’m 23F. If I do have an overbite, can I fix it without surgery? If I need surgery, should it be maxillofacial or a chin implant/genioplasty?
Thank you!
