Hello, hoping someone might be able to advise me. I have a Maryland bridge fitted for the front of my mouth (lateral incisor); so it looks like a little butterfly with wings on either side that attach to the central incisor and the canine. It just popped out the other day, and I can't get in to see my dentist for another month due to the pandemic (totally understandable as this doesn't qualify as a dental emergency). But, I do have to continue to work and attend many zoom meetings each day and don't feel comfortable doing so with the tooth missing.
My dentist recommended I use an over the counter "cement" to try to get it to stay in place temporarily, like enough to be in meetings and so forth. I happened to have some Fixodent paste (pink stuff) on hand, and have used that semi-successfully. I dried the bridge, dabbed a little bit of the paste on the "wings", wiped my teeth dry and then inserted the bridge and held it there for a moment, and it stuck pretty well for most of the day so long as I don't chew on that side of my mouth. But it loosens up and un-sticks after about 4 hours, and I would love something that lasts just a little longer?
I can see that most drugstores sell something like this&pla&adtype=pla&kpid=400616610&sst=k_EAIaIQobChMI_6uIjaeg6QIVip-zCh0IPANrEAQYAiABEgK-5vD_BwE_k&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI_6uIjaeg6QIVip-zCh0IPANrEAQYAiABEgK-5vD_BwE) for fixing crowns. But it looks like maybe it's a bit more permanent than I ought to try? Could I use that kind of crown cement safely? Or should just use the Fixodent (or similar stuff) that is just like a sticky paste? Is there anything else out there that might be helpful and not dangerous and is easy to use? I don't mind if it's something I have to reapply every day and I certainly don't expect to be able to chew on the tooth or anything, I just need it to stay put through meetings and would love to be able to drink and eat very soft food during the day without worrying that it will pop out. I am worried I'll swallow it or break it and then be truly screwed. At night I take it out and keep it in a cup with a little water. No way am I sleeping with it in as I am convinced I'll swallow it.
For just a little more background info: I know this kind of bridge is not an ideal solution for my missing tooth. But I can't get an implant because of the position of the roots of the other teeth, and I don't want to do a more permanent bridge as that involves grinding down healthy teeth and I'm only 48. I am considering going back to a metal partial as it was much more sturdy. This bridge has fallen out about 6 times over the past 3 years and it's clear it's just not a sustainable solution. Just looking to get through the next 4 weeks or so.
Anyway, thank you for reading this far and for any advice you might have....
