Over the past week or so, I had a little surprise when I ran my tongue over my old tooth extraction site (that I had done around December 2015) and found that I could feel a small piece of bone emerging form my old extraction site. Having a look in the mirror and shining a light on it reveals a small piece of bone, looking like an emerging tooth. It's rather small, but I can see definitely it.
Is it normal to have this happen so long after tooth extraction? A simple google says it's fairly normal that roots/bone slithers can emerge shortly after, but I can't find much about long term. The gums seem healthy and no pain as of yet.
I thought I'd make this post to assess the urgency of such a case, because obviously with the ongoing Covid situation it's difficult to visit the Dentist currently. Thanks!
