TLDR at the bottom of the post!!!!!!!!
Edit: For more info:
The tooth in question is #19, bottom (my) left molar. Cavity was noticed in 2016 but was left untreated until 2018 where I finally got a root canal. I have pretty bad dental health in general, but most of my known cavaties have been filled. Gums are also pretty receded but I havent had any pain from them so far.
[End of edit]
Ive posted about it before here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Dentistry/comments/e2n71l/still_feeling_occasional_pain_in_root_canal_tooth/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
But the pain seems to be getting worse. Its still only occasional pain, but right now as Im typing, it hurts a lot more than it did before it was drilled & crowned. This is probably the worst dental pain Ive experienced (or that I remember experiencing).
With this quarantine chaos (and some extreme family turmoil) I cant get it looked at right away, and its been overlooked by a dentist whom I've mentioned it to before (but he was working on other stuff that day that did take a long time and said maybe hed take a look the next time i came. This was before quarantine. + He was the one who did my root canal initially.)
I was a pretty big fool for not seeing him before quarantine started. :,) oof. But anyway-
*Im wondering what the fail/success rate of a root canal operation is? Like, how likely is it that he missed some of the "pulp" when taking it out? *
To my knowledge, its pretty common...? But Im still curious as to the statistics on it, and also how serious it is...? Like, under the assumption I don't get it treated for several more months.
Thanks in advance for any help!!
TLDR:
-What's the success rate of a root canal operation? (Or what's the rate that a dr might have to go back in and fix the work?)
-also, how long can I leave this alone until it gets preeety messed up? (Basically: Is this an emergency?)
