Advice for Month 5 of Temporary Crown

Hi,

Due to covid and unfortunate career timing, I am approaching my 5th month with a temporary crown. My current dentist is not taking any appointments because of the risks with covid, and I don’t know how much longer I will have this temporary crown for. My old dentist said there is a chance it could get infected, but in the same breath said it would probably be fine with my normal hygiene routine, flossing every day and brushing twice a day. The temp crown is basically cemented on and is not moving. There is pain when I use it for chewing (#32) but I can avoid using that side. I also have had a root canal performed on that tooth. It was just poor timing for the permanent crown.

Is there anything else I can do to prevent infection and preserve this temp crown? Thank you for reading!

tl;dr almost 5 months with temporary crown, looking for ways to preserve and avoid infection
