I'm 24 and for the past 6 or so years I've had extreme tooth sensitivity specifically after eating candy. I brush daily and have never had a cavity.
The sensitivity is only ever the teeth that came into direct contact with the candy. I.e. if I had a sucker on the left side of my mouth, I'd experience no sensitivity on the right but severe sensitivity on the left.
I've been to three dentists about this over the years and they all say my teeth are fine. I get my yearly cleaning done and usually ask them then.
I have a dentists appointment set for next month and plan to ask again but I figured I'd ask her now in case y'all have any ideas.
The pain is generally speaking, reserved to the tips of my teeth and is a fairly sharp direct pain. It doesn't tend to radiate if that matters
Thanks dentists of reddit. Y'all rock!
